Our knowingly restored rooms make you want to stay even longer than the time necessary for a good night’s sleep. Every room is furnished individually, with original paintings by great nineteenth century and twentieth century South Tyrol artists from the turn of the century, when the Kuppelrain was built of solid stone, from the cellar to the roof: slate and mica from the Sonnenberg quarry. We left a wall without plaster, to document the grandiose art of construction of the time. We used local materials for the restoration of the building. The marble, for example, has an insuperably white colour that cannot be found anywhere else in the world, which comes from the town of Lasa in the beautiful Venosta Valley. When we were kids we played with cubes of marble, with which we built castles. The same cubes of marble, which my father had squared by hand for our house when he was young, now decorate the entrance to our restaurant. The wood used comes from the local woods and was left with a natural colour to harmonise perfectly with the antique wooden furniture that was already present.
Almost in front of the house, the stupendous creek-side paths or “Waalwege” and excursion trails begin, among the orchards and vineyards.
