is full of deep, rich colours; the range on offer is enormous. Summer invites us to experiment with all kinds of wild herbs, blossoms, vegetables, lettuces, fruit and berries. At the same time, fruit is being diligently made into jams, while berries and mushrooms are being preserved. In this way, we can carry over something of the summer’s warmth into the colder days of the year. Only an imaginative cook, indeed an artist at the cooker, can capture summer and celebrate the richness and variety it has to offer; its fragrances and moods.
